🌿 How KoalaCloth Really Began
It didn’t start with a big vision or a fancy lab.
It started with a messy bathroom and a bit of frustration — the kind most Aussies know too well.
A few years ago, I (Jessie Taylor) had just moved into a small apartment with an older bathroom. Nice place… except the shower glass was permanently covered in streaks, watermarks and that stubborn cloudy film that never seemed to budge.
I tried everything — sprays, scrubbing pads, vinegar tricks, the “miracle” cloths from the supermarket. Some smelled awful, some scratched the glass and most just pushed water around.
One day after yet another failed clean, I remember thinking:
“Why is something as simple as cleaning glass such a nightmare?”
So I started testing.
Not with the intention of creating a product or a brand — I just wanted a cloth that actually worked without chemicals or elbow-destroying scrubbing.
From a Simple Test to Something Bigger
I began trying different weaves, fibres and materials — ordering samples, cutting them up, testing them wet/dry and handing them to friends and family to try on their own bathrooms.
Most of them failed.
But one prototype stood out immediately.
It wiped away soap scum and watermarks without sprays, didn’t leave streaks and — the biggest surprise — worked even better in hard water areas like QLD and regional NSW.
Friends started asking for extras.
Then friends of friends.
Then strangers.
That’s when I realised:
Maybe this wasn’t just a ‘me’ problem.
Maybe Aussies needed a cloth that actually did the job.
And that’s how KoalaCloth was born — not in a boardroom, but in a very normal Aussie bathroom with very real cleaning problems.
